Cllr. Derek Bastiman

Cllr. Derek Bastiman (Scalby Ward)

I have lived in the area all my life and my wife Lynn was born on Highfield Estate. Both our sons, James and Thomas attended Newby County Primary School and Scalby School, and are now successful Graphic Designers – something we are extremely proud of. I represented the area on Scarborough Borough Council for 25 years and have been on North Yorkshire Council (previously North Yorkshire County Council) since 2013. I enjoy being able to help my residents wherever possible, alas at times the outcome is not what the electorate want to hear but I will always fight for what is fair, right and proper for the people who have put their trust in me. I would strongly urge anyone who has an interest in the community where they live to actively engage with the Town Council in its endeavours to protect and improve the environs in which we are fortunate to reside.
